agnosticism

Reading Desk

For agnosticism is, in a sense, what I am preaching. I do not wish to reduce the sceptical element in your minds. I am only suggesting that it need not be reserved exclusively for the New Testament and the Creeds. Try doubting something else.

C. S. Lewis

Sage advice, but there are some things more dangerous to publicly doubt than religion (unless you're in Saudi Arabia).

How very, very, very true.

Especially when you doubt the true dogmas of those who most prize themselves on account of their tolerance and broadmindedness. . . .

The most calls I have heard for people to avoid corrupting literature nowadays were calls to avoid reading writers because they might taint your acceptance of inclusivity.

*wry* Since I just committed the "sin" of publicly doubting the "evidence" of yet another Christian holiday being "stolen"-- and had the bad form to back it up with evidence-- this is timely.

Being stolen from the Christians or by the Christians?

Hard to tell nowadays. I notice that both situations are used to insult Christians.

By, though I mostly even noticed it because the claim that the Christians had just thrown a new coat of paint on was fine, but debunking it was invitation to war.

Can't wait for the inevitable Mithras thing....

Furthermore, they think you are the one who started the fight because of course that sort of bigotry is not flame bait.
