vignette challenge

This week's prompt is:
wet

Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.

My effort:

The realm of the mermaid queen is less wet than you would think.  Jewelry and weapons can not be forged underwater unless magically protected from water.  Books still less, and she is proud of the chronicles of the realm.
Still, don't count on any part of the city being dry.
