playing with toys

Because one of the secondary heroines (the work's got -- hmmm -- four secondary heroines, and some tertiary ones 0:) got to the climax of her fairy tale, a la East of the Sun, West of the Moon, and tales of that ilk.

So the next step is to open the things she was given on her three stops, and take out the magic trinket that will let her bribe the villainess.

I was thinking of magical birds -- but I've already used magical birds once.  Maybe I should re-read some of the stories.

Although I know I will NOT be using the scissors that you open and shut in air and have pieces of cloth fall from it.  For one thing, the villainess wouldn't like it. . . .

Hmm.  Maybe I should do something that she thinks is stupid but which she can't bear to leave in the heroine's hands because it's magic and why should anyone except her have anything magic. . . .
