sunset

autumn is for the birds

Geese flying and landing on the pond where they have not been all summer -- forming V's on the waters.  Coming up to the bank reveals there are mallards bobbing on the pond's side, sometimes going a-dabbling, up tails all.  The geese do that, too, sometimes, showing bellies much whiter than the ducks.  Their cries are a mingling of the silly gabbling of a gaggle of geese and those eerie cries of the distant, migrating geese in flight -- I think it's the deepest of the note, as if it drew on more of the chest that changes it.
