A Birthday

I went to the park today.  It was open.  The parking was closed. . . .

So people got to park on the street and walk.  I am not sure what this was supposed to accomplish, especially given the heat.

It was perhaps late to visit Elizabeth Park for roses -- certainly for the heritage garden -- but the main spread had many lovely flowers.  Many golden roses where the sunlight would bleach the older ones toward a delicate cream.  One that was a lovely shade of -- rose madder, lovely with its tinge of desaturated shade.  White roses both large and small that remained snow white even as they passed their peak and started to fall apart.  Lovely blooms in rosy orange and pink that bleached to cream and a more delicate pink.  Several ones in shades of lavender.
