These Look Like Jobs for Superman

If you gave superhero comics a dose of reality -- what other occupations would those with superpowers engage in, beside committing crimes and catching criminals?

to be sure, a lot would be useful in disaster relief.  Someone who could astral project to survey a scene from survivors, or in search-and-rescue. Ability to tunnel would let you get to victims particularly if you have the handy trait of making the stuff you tunnel through vanish.  Ice control powers for fire-fighting.  Telekinesis or magnetism during wartime would be wasted on the battlefield; they would act as a marvelous force multiplier to deliver supplies to beleaguered places.

But think of the non-high-dramatics fields.

Animal-control would make a great circus act.  Plant control would produce fantastic gardens and landscape.  Ice control for refrigeration or building an ice rink.  Viewing times gone by -- historian, or accident investigation.  A compelling voice that lasted a long time would work wonderfully for those who want to give up the drugs.  Flying powers would work wonderfully for a reporter who wants to get shots from the air.  Invulnerability for a stunt double.

The possibilities are enormous.
