Red Plenty

Red Plenty by by Francis Spufford

An odd sort of -- tale.  He calls it a fairy tale.  It's a series of vignettes on post-Stalin life in the USSR.

Focusing on the effort to bring the promsied plenty to the land.  Some based on real life people, some on fictionalized ones, some on purely imaginary but typical ones.  With footnotes in the back to establish that this is real, that is confabulated from what details are available, the other thing has been moved forward in time for shameless adding of drama to the story.  Computers, sabotage, a display by Americans, rejection of plans, and much more paint a picture worth looking at.
