flowers and princesses

Princesses do not learn to arrange their own hair, or someone else's, with flowers in it.

A fact I just realized with the heroine preparing the hair of her good friend for the dance after the haying.  She might never have learned it if she hadn't run away from home and gotten a job as a baker.  But then, she's in a fairy tale.

And also has the ability to comb flowers out her hair.  She still went out with her friend to gather seaonable wildflowers for the fesitivities; using her own flowers would be a little -- revealing.

Ah, well.  I think the friend is going to observe that it is deemed lucky for the flowers to litter the dance flower at the end of the dance.  Convenient belief.
