vignette

This week's prompt is:
opposite

Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.

My effort:

"There's no use trying to run away to the circus," said the mother, pulling the girl by her arm. "You are entirely too normal for them. They won't have you."
Hope wondered if any mother had ever told a child that to the effect intended, rather than getting the opposite.
