Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger

Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger by Ralph E. Hayes Jr.

The adventures of an anthropomorphic raccoon IN SPACE!!!

He's the descendent of the Quentyn of the Questor books.  Though not so good as them.  They have a tendency to get preachy, and sometimes topically so, in a way that detracts from the story.    (Though the info-dump about the problems with organo-tech is a gem of humor.)

We have an encounter with pirates, a Star Trek parody, and hunting down an assassin with an intelligent tracking dog and a cab driver while technically on vacations.
