oath sworn

Tripping merrily along through a scene where I knew some adults were going to refuse to tell the main character stuff on the grounds they are just too young.

Whereupon one of the more obnoxious adults says they are oath-bound to not tell youngsters.

Hmmm. . . hmmmmmm. . . .

Fortunately my point of view character instantly wondered whether the oath really was specific enough to deny them this knowledge, potentially crucial to them, or if he was using his (lack of) judgment to make the call.

'cause later on some characters who (probably) would have taken the same oath are going to have to reveal much.
