begin at the beginning

I know where the story begins.

At the point at which she gets her powers.

Of course there's the question of whether that's the inciting incident that triggers them, when she first subtly manifests them, or when the full horror comes crushing in on her.

There's the question of drama and also of the necessity of backfill -- and backfill of incidents that had just happened to the heroine.

Though I might be able to put off explaining how you catch superpowers in this world.
