vignette challenge

This week's prompt is:
clip

Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.

My efforts:

She put a clip on her hair first. And then another four. Swinging her hair into her face was a nuisance in the garden. Here, it would be something more. Especially when the first step was to burn the lock of hair.
It was more like chemistry class than gardening.

Said another, his face ruddy, his hair and mustache and flowing beard fiery red over his copper armor, "And things go at a fair clip. It is one thing to circle the globe before your tea grows cold, it is another to undercover such a conspiracy."

The rain's clip slowed still further, and the cabin was filled with more and more wariness.
Edmund drew a deep breath. "What is the rain stirring up?"
In the silence, a breeze sent a patter of rain against the window.
"Are monsters so reliable where you come from?" said Asteria.

I scrambled up onto the dais, so close to the king that I would have defied all courtly manners, and that I nearly clipped my hand on the arm of the throne. I surveyed all below. No sign, no sign at all.
"We have you, sweet little lassie," said Augusta.

The dismissed knights left at a fair clip. Almost as fast as the dirigible would go. Servants were already loading the kits onto it, no doubt. Since we had packed before we lined up in the courtyard, and the princess and her ladies were already descending to the dirigible field.
