vignette challenge

This week's prompt is:

Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.

My efforts:
Something scented the air. She sniffed. Someone was frying some dish. She could not tell what, but she kept her eyes out.

"For your hair. Before the dragon drains it gray."

At least they would not be fried by the sun as they rode up, not while they were in the shade of the greenery. The gate stood ahead, with its drawbridge. The captain of his guard hailed the sentries, and it was lowered for him.
The courtiers in the greenery had to have secret doors, to let them in and out. They would not wait for this.
