Ones where the minor characters don't die, either, and no one sane would expect them to. Or ones where the minor characters' deaths are few and logical; the fantasy of manners where the notorious town drunk finally manages to stumble into the lake on a freezing winter night is not necessarily one where the charmed circle in the manor house will seemed charmed because no one dies.
But, the more dangerous the world becomes, the more unreal it seems that having a name is protection better than plate armor. Particularly in a series where major characters accumulate and never, ever, ever die whatever danger they plunge into.
